From St Austell

Our family holiday park in Cornwall has its own private beach with golden sands and azure blue waters.

Our Beach Front pitches and Beach House cabins are located directly by the beach.

How far away are the major offsite attractions?

There are many attractions nearby.

  • The fishing port of Mevagissey - 2 miles away,
  • Lost Gardens of Heligan approx. - 2 miles away
  • The ancient port of Charlestown - approx. 4 miles away
  • The port of Fowey approx. 12 miles away
  • Lanhydrock House approx. 12 miles away
  • The world-famous Eden Project - approx 8 miles away.
  • The region’s main shopping centre of Truro is 18 miles away
  • The local market town of St Austell is just over 3 miles along the Pentewan Road.

What public transport do you have nearby?

There is a bus service that stops outside Pentewan Sands Holiday Park that links us to Mevagissey, Fowey, Charlestown and the mainline train stations of Par and St Austell.

You can fly to Newquay, Cornwall, direct from several UK airports including Birmingham, Belfast and London.

Do you allow dogs at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park?

Unfortunately not, with the exception of registered assistance dogs.

However, dogs are welcome at our sister site at Heligan Caravan & Camping Park.

Are your Beach Front pitches available all year?

Due to reseeding purposes, Beach Front pitches are only available at certain times of the year. 

For 2024, the Beach Front pitches are available to book from the 27th of April to the 28th of September.

Do you sell holiday homes?

Occasionally on renewal of our fleet, we may have units for sale. Please call Pentewan Sands Holiday Park for details. Our caravans in the park are only available to hire as holiday homes.

We do sell luxury holiday lodges and holiday homes at our sister site, Heligan Caravan & Camping Park.

What is included in the price of my holiday?

If you are staying at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park, you will have access to our all-weather leisure facility which has two indoor swimming pools. One is a fun pool for children and the other a lap pool for more serious swimmers. We also have a whirlpool and an amusement arcade. On the main deck is the bar and restaurant, where you can grab a bite to eat and soak up the fantastic views across the bay.  Please note that on occasions the upper deck may be closed for a private function and that seasonal opening times will apply outside the main peak holiday, Whitsun and Easter breaks. Seasonal opening times will also apply to Hub Box on the beach, Pentewan Plaice (the fish and chip shop) and the supermarket.

2024 - If you are staying in one of our holiday homes we provide duvets, duvet covers, pillows, pillowcases and one sheet per bed free of charge.  Additional linen can be provided if necessary.  We do not provide linen for children under 3, cot linen, tea towels, towels or shower/bath mats. How can I pay for my holiday at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park?

At the time of booking we will take a deposit and the balance will be due 42 days prior to arrival. We take a 25% deposit on all touring pitches and £100 per week’s holiday for all holiday homes. So, for 7 nights a deposit of £100 and for 14 nights a deposit of £200 and so on. We take all major credit and debit cards. We do not take American Express. If a holiday is booked under 42 days prior to arrival the full amount will be required. This is applicable to both online and telephone bookings. All bookings for 7 nights or more are subject to a one-off booking fee and our Cancellation Scheme fee.

What grading is Pentewan Sands?

Pentewan Sands Holiday Park has recently been classified by Visit England's Quality in Tourism grading scheme as a 5 Star Holiday Park in Cornwall. 

What time can I occupy my holiday home?

We ask our guests to depart our holiday homes by 10am.  After guests have departed we want to clean each holiday home to the highest standard and then have one of our supervisors check each holiday home before making these available to the next incoming guests.  We complete these tasks by 4pm when the holiday home will be available for occupation.

Charges will be incurred for late-checkout that has not had prior arrangement by the park. 

What time can I occupy my pitch?

Pentewan Sands Holiday Park Camping and Touring pitches must be vacated by 10.30am, and can be occupied from 12pm on the start day of your holiday.

What size are the pitches?

The pitches at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park are generous in size and are an average of 13 meters square.  Book online to see the actual size of your pitch.

We do ask that all our prospective guests check the size of their tent, motorhome or touring caravan prior to booking in order to select the appropriate pitch.

Are there any restrictions on site?

As we are a family-based holiday park we do not take bookings from young adult single sex parties. We do not allow pets of any kind at Pentewan Sands and we do not allow electric generators on site.

What times of year is the site open?

For the 2024 season, we are open from the 22nd of March to the 2nd of November. 

Do you take bookings for rallies?

Yes, each year a number of rallies return to us. The Seahorse makes an ideal venue for large groups.

Is the sea clean?

Our beach meets the highest quality standard from the MCS (The Marine Conservation Society) and is recommended by them for bathing.

What is the power supply to the electric pitches?

The pitches run on 240 volt/16 amp power supply.

What is the security deposit?

No deposit is required.  However, the company reserves the right to charge the customer within 72 hours of departure for any damaged or missing items. If deemed necessary, a minimum £50 cleaning charge may also be levied.  Customers paying by cash or cheque will be required to provide authorisation by a credit or debit card against the above prior to occupancy of your holiday home.

What if I have to cancel my holiday?

For all bookings for seven nights or more, we charge a compulsory cancellation scheme charge of £3.15 per night on holiday homes and £1.60 per night on camping and touring pitches.

The daily cancellation fee is also available as an optional extra for breaks shorter than 7 nights.

This covers cancellations such as illness, death, injury or maternity complications of any member of your party, redundancy, jury service or death, serious injury or illness of close relatives.

Do you have WiFi?

Free WiFi is available in The Seahorse and HUBBOX.

Limited WiFi is available throughout the park; please check the signal on your pitch and follow log-in instructions.

  • One device: 1 day - £4, 3 days - £10, 7 days - £17, 14 days - £24.
  • Up to four devices: 3 days - £21, 7 days - £35, 14 days - £56.

We offer a free 30-minute session and advise checking the signal strength on your pitch/holiday home before purchasing to avoid disappointment.

Please note, the Wi-Fi network is designed for general web browsing, email and social networking usage. Every effort has been made to provide a full WiFi service across the site, however, there may be areas on the park that may have limited or no service. We cannot be responsible for the temporary withdrawal of the service due to adverse weather conditions or breakdown.

What is included in my holiday home?

All of our holiday homes are well equipped for a comfortable stay, from cooking, eating, showering, relaxing and enjoying a good nights sleep. Even the bed linen is included!

Is there a fee to use the tennis courts?

Yes, our courts are located behind D field - please visit Reception to book your time.

  • £6.00 per hour (adult's court)
  • £4.00 per hour (children's court)
  • PLUS £5.00 key deposit (cash)
  • Rackets and ball hire is included in the price, but a £10.00 deposit is required for use of these (cash).
