Active vacations with kids

By Pentewan Sands on the April 24th, 2019 in Camping, Holidays, Family, Cornwall, Activities, Lifestyle and Health

Family vacations are an excellent way to have a memorable fun time together and bond with each other over shared experiences. However, since this means bringing your kids along, finding and planning a vacation to keep everybody happy and satisfied is not as easy as it sounds. The first thing to keep in mind is that, though like many parents you might dream of a relaxing vacation, kids get bored easily, so you need loads of activities to keep them busy.

The good news is that you can have both relaxation and fun if you choose the right way to plan your kid-friendly escape and find a perfect destination. So, if you’re ready to make your next family holiday unforgettable for everybody, continue reading.

Find Activities Everybody Will Enjoy

Kids are adventurous and curious by nature. If you want to keep them happy during your holiday, you need to find activities that appeal to their sense of wonder about everything around us. However, the kinds of activities you choose depend on your children’s passions.

For instance, if your little ones are interested in wildlife, you should consider a holiday where hiking is possible, giving them the chance to observe nature and animals. In this case, you could add camping, zip lining, and even mountain biking if they are old enough, to your activity list. And if you have children passionate about watersports, a beach vacation will keep them busy and happy. However, when choosing the activities, you have to keep in mind the adults’ preferences, as well. To make it memorable, everybody has to enjoy the holiday.

Make Trip Planning a Family Experience

You are the adult, and you make the decisions. But, if you want to get your whole family excited about the upcoming vacation, you should involve everybody in the planning. Of course, you know your kids and are aware of their likes and dislikes, but asking them about the things they want to do and see will make them feel like they are part of the process.

And you know what this means, don’t you? Yes, planning trips together will get you closer and it will lead to engagement throughout the journey.

Choose the Perfect Destination

To make everything smooth, you can find destinations you’d love and you think your little ones would, too. Then, present your ideas and choose the best one together.

The world is full of fantastic options, and after you and your family decide on the things you want to do, you only have to find the places that offer your favourite activities.

For instance, if you love sunbathing and are fond of watersports, Pentewan Sands Holiday Park in Cornwall is a great choice. Not only does this breathtaking resort offer you the chance to indulge in adventurous sports such as windsurfing, kayaking, wakeboarding or water skiing, but it is also a Five Star Holiday Park with excellent family facilities. And, those of you who are more outdoorsy don’t have to stay in the Holiday Homes, since you can bring your tent, caravan or motorhome.

Besides enjoying the beach and the multitude of watersports available, you can have some fun at the indoor pools, take your kids to the play area or have fun together at the amusement arcade. And guess what? There is even a play area located on the park’s private beach. So, your kids can run around while you relax and enjoy the sun.

But these are just some of the things Pentewan Sands Holiday Park offers to adventurous families, and this is just one of the many places beach and watersports lovers can go to when travelling with their restless kids.

Another great place that can please your whole family is Heligan Caravan and Camping Park, magically located in the countryside, just two miles from the Cornish coast, right next to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Not only will you be far from the crowd, enjoying the beauty of nature, you can also choose between a self-catering holiday home, bringing your caravan, or pitching a tent.

As you can probably imagine, the number of fun things to do available at this gorgeous park is incredible. Whether you and your kids love biking, walking, spending time at the beach or having a blast at a Theme Park, you can do everything here. You can also explore a maritime museum and a fascinating aquarium, go to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, and much more. This is a vacation paradise for all people travelling with kids.

The Canary Islands are also great choice for ocean lovers who are searching for kid-friendly destinations. And so are many islands in Greece. But, what if you and your little ones are not into sunbathing that much, but you want to hike and admire wildlife? Maybe taking your family to the Scottish Highlands where you can go hunting for Nessie with your children is a great idea. Looking for a mythological monster might be fun, in addition to the whole hiking adventure, and thrilling activities available in the area.

The Scottish Highlands offer a few amazing routes with not only beautiful views and interesting flora and fauna, but also exciting things for kids, such as hiking volcanoes, kayaking, and exploring ruins. The Ayrshire Coastal Path which was declared one of Scotland's Great Trails by Scottish Natural Heritage and the Arran Coastal Way are just two of the trail options that welcome both kids and adults, promising to keep everybody happy and excited.

Again, these are some of the destinations your whole family would love, depending on the activities you all enjoy. And, as already mentioned, there are many more breathtaking places that can enhance your well-planned vacations with kids. Just find the right one for your squad.
