Things to Do In Cornwall

Top 7 things to do on a rainy day in Cornwall

Just in case there might be some Cornish rain during your holiday, here are a few ideas we’ve put together that are suitable for all ages, tastes, and budgets.

1. The Seahorse

Of course, first on our list is The Seahorse. Located onsite at Pentewan Sands, so only a guaranteed few minutes walk away from your pitch or holiday home, you can enjoy two indoor swimming pools, and an arcade or simply head up to the bar & restaurant for a cocktail, light bite, spot of lunch or an evening meal, whilst taking in the breathtaking sea views from our window seats. Or head to our Lower Deck Coffee Shop for a delicious homemade cake, warming bowl of soup, or freshly made panini.

2. Eden Project, St. Austell

Needing little introduction is of course the popular and well-known Eden Project.

Take an educational trip and explore the world’s largest indoor rainforest in their covered biomes. A once barren landscape that was transformed into beautiful global gardens now provides an extraordinary day out for all the family.

Enjoy extensive outdoor gardens, contemporary artwork, performances, and storytelling. Discover places to rest, play, and eat, and pick up inspiring ideas to take home on how to care for the planet that cares for you.

Opening times and prices vary throughout the year, please check their website for more information.

3. National Maritime Museum, Falmouth

A place to enrich our understanding of the sea, and Cornwall, this multi-award-winning museum will take you on a journey through its 15 galleries, to beautifully illustrate the past, present and future of this island nation.

4. National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow

If you’re looking for something a little bit different to do, then why not visit the National Lobster Hatchery and learn all about their pioneering marine conservation work to save the wild lobster population. Meet the lobsters at different stages of their lifecycle, from babies to fully grown adults, it is a fantastic educational experience for all the family.

5. Bodmin Jail, Bodmin

Immerse yourself into the dark history of Bodmin’s 18-century prison, with their new ‘Dark Walk’ experience. You can learn all about the history of the jail, meet some of the inmates and hear plenty of stories about what conditions inside the jail were really like.

Bodmin Jail offers a variety of experiences, each suitable for different ages. Please check their website for more information.
