Top 5 Walks Around Cornwall
Crisp mornings, falling leaves and the scent of bonfires... Autumn has officially arrived in Cornwall! Browse our top 5 places to take a walk this month around the beautiful coastline of Cornwall.
South West Coast Path - Mevagissey to Par

Explore the wonders of the South West Coast Path, running straight through Pentewan Sands Holiday Park! Begin from the park itself, or head down to Mevagissey (a 6 minute bus ride) to start from there.
Wander along the coast path taking in the far-reaching views of the horizon and crystal blue waters. As you head towards Par, you'll pass along Carlyon Bay - a 2 mile long man-made beach - and through the idyllic fishing village of Charlestown. Pause here for a drink in the local pubs, and carry on to the town of Par, home to Par Sands Beach with stunning sand dunes.
Lanhydrock Woods

A 30 minute drive from Pentewan Sands, you'll find the stunning historic estate of Lanhydrock. Park on the main car park for Lanhydrock House and walk through the estate's expanse of woodland, with sky-reaching trees and tumbling rivers to explore. This gentle circular walk is a perfect way to discover the Great Wood of the estate and feel the crunch of leaves beneath your wellies!
While the grounds are free to roam, the house itself is owned by the National Trust. Filled with Victorian history and a haunting story of a terrible fire, you can pay to go inside and make a day of it.
Kynance Cove and The Lizard

Kynance Cove (named one of the world's top 50 beaches) is a great starting point to discover The Lizard peninsular. With breathtaking views out to sea, and unusual rock formations that make a great photo opportunity, this walk is popular with visitors to Cornwall.
Follow the cliff path from Kynance Cove, passing above Pentreath beach, past the disused lifeboat station, down to Lizard lighthouse and towards Pen Olver. The walk leads you to Lizard village, with plenty of quaint shops and places to grab something to eat. From here, you can wander back to Kynance Cove.

Bedruthan Steps

On the North Coast, Newquay's Bedruthan Steps are a wonder to behold. Steeped in history, many have speculated at the origins of these rock formations. Are they naturally occurring, or were they placed there by giants? It's up to you to decide!
The best way to discover this dramatic stretch of coastline is to park at the National Trust Car Park for Bedruthan Steps and wander down along the coast path towards the earthworks of Redcliff Castle. Along this stretch, look out for Bronze Age ruins on the headland and marine life out to see. Carry on towards Porth Mear, with a view of Trevose Head and the lighthouse, and circle back to the car park. For more detailed instructions on this walk, head to the National Trust website.
Penzance to Mount's Bay

Discover the magical monument of St Michael's Mount with this special walk around the bay. Beginning in Penzance town, leave your car in one of the main car parks (St Antony's Long Stay Car Park is recommended) and follow the beach-front promenade towards Mounts Bay.
The promenade is flat and suitable for wheelchairs, so you can enjoy the coast at a leisurely pace. Look out for dolphins and whales along this stretch of coastline - a humpback was recently spotted here! The walk will take you along the seafront to Marizon, a small town with shops, cafes and pubs so you can take in the view with a drink. At this point, you can choose to venture over the causeway to the castle and pay to climb to the top, or relax on the sandy beach and admire it from afar. When the tide comes in, a ferry service is in operation so you don't get stranded!
On the walk back, Penzance town is filled with a selection of quaint shops, pubs and restaurants with views over the bay, so it's well worth exploring on the way back.
