Our Top Tips to Look After The Cornish Coastline
Cornwall is by far one of the most beautiful places in the world, and we're making sure it stays that way! From encouraging our guests to look after their surroundings, to beach cleans and ocean education, we're working together to look after our environment.
Here's some of our top tips to look after the sea on your holiday!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
🏄♀️HIRE INSTEAD OF BUYING. Rather than buying items at the start of the holiday and throwing them away, head to Cornwall Watersports on the beach for all your gear, including windbreaks, wetsuits and bodyboards!

🌊REPORT RUBBISH TO US. Our maintenance team are always on hand to help if you spot anything on the beach that shouldn't be there! Pop to reception to let us know and we will sort it out.
🏖️DO A BEACH CLEAN. Next time you're enjoying a walk along the beach and spot something that looks out of place, pick it up and pop it in the bins provided. We really appreciate every little effort!

🥕 BUY LOOSE VEG. At the supermarket, go for the loose fruit and veggies, or recycle any packaging right in the store! Top tip: check with the supermarket as they usually take stretchy plastic like bread wraps and parcel packaging too.
🛍️ SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES. There are so many lovely businesses nearby in Mevagissey and St Austell that are working to support out oceans. Plus, if you buy local while you're on holiday, you not only reduce your carbon footprint, but you also help support our community so you can come back for years to come!

💧USE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER BARS. A very easy way to cut plastic from your holiday is switch out the bottles for bars! They take up less space in your luggage, and they last longer too.
🤗 HAVE FUN! Make a game out of finding the strangest object to wash up on the shore and pop it in the bins provided around the park. Our favourite so far is Lego!
When you get home, why not try some of these?
🌱GROW YOUR OWN! From a pot of herbs on the windowsill to an allotment - try something new! Not only is it super fun to see your seeds grow, the fruit and veg tastes better too.
♻️REUSE AND RECYCLE. Make sure to recycle following your local Council's guidance, and reuse packaging wherever you can! Use your glass jars for storage in the kitchen, bedroom and the garage (they’re so useful for loose screws!), or maybe use a butter tub to grow some herbs for the kitchen? Every little helps!
🐋SUPPORT OCEAN CHARITIES. Like, share or donate to the wonderful charities working to keep our oceans and wildlife safe! Check out Marine Conservation Society and Surfers Against Sewage as a good starting point.

The main thing to remember is that in today’s world, it can be very overwhelming to know where to start. But if everyone does a little bit, it can make a huge difference!
