Campers are set to get a taste of some of Cornwall’s best ales at The Jolly Roger pub, a new addition to the award winning Pentewan Sands Holiday Park near Mevagissey.

Opening in time for summer 2015, The Jolly Roger gives guests a taste of old Cornwall, as well as the chance to try a special pint of Jolly Roger ale supplied especially for the resort by award-winning local brewer St Austell Brewery.

As well as offering a choice of local ales, The Jolly Roger also has a great menu for customers to enjoy throughout the day and into the evening.

The new venue incorporates reclaimed fixtures and fittings from around Cornwall, to give it that vintage feel and, during the summer season, the Pirates of St Piran will be coming aboard most Friday nights to share a tankard and a shanty or two.

Scott Young, Food and Beverage Manager at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park, said: “We always wanted to create a traditional Cornish themed pub at Pentewan. Guests have often suggested it would go down well on-site. This has been an exciting project for us all as every piece of furniture in the pub has been sourced locally from around Cornwall to give the pub a cosy and traditional feel.

“We have a lot to offer on-site at Pentewan for 2015 as we have invested in the holiday park to give our guests the best facilities and holiday we can.”

The space was previously occupied by the popular arcade which has now been moved to the ground floor of The Seahorse building, giving it a much brighter and family friendly room.

The Jolly Roger features a selection of local ales from St Austell Brewery who also created their own special ‘Jolly Roger’ on tap. Roger Ryman, Head Brewer at St Austell Brewery, said: “When we were approached by Pentewan Sands, we were delighted to offer them their own beer to have available in their new pub. We are just up the road from the park so it is great to have that local connection.”

The Jolly Roger pub stands alongside recently opened Hubbox, as well as The Seahorse which offers food and drinks all year round providing guests with ample facilities during their holidays. The pub is open to guests staying at the park and also to the public throughout the year.

The holiday park was recently awarded a five-star Quality in Tourism award for the first time since the site opened in 1945 for the quality of the site, individual pitches, the arrival service, recreation and leisure facilities and cleanliness.
